A message from the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission

Solicitation of your support on a National Endeavour

Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (SLIC) is the National Body Established by the Sri Lanka Inventors Incentive Act No. 53 of 1979 with the prime objectives of providing Technical, Legal, Financial and Market Access support to Sri Lankan inventors and to promote innovativeness among the citizens of Sri Lanka. The SLIC currently functions under the Ministry of Science, Technology & Research.

On the pursuits of identifying potential inventions and innovations, the SLIC obtains the services of eminent members from academia, industry, professional bodies and likes as members of the SLIC judging panel. The SLIC convenes these panels for a wide variety of evaluations both local and overseas. Thus the SLIC is of the opinion that it would benefit nationally to leverage in on the expertise of a renowned adjudicator from WIPO or other institution of similar structure from the Global terrain who could share in on some invaluable tips and best practices thus aiding in the raising of the bar across country’s judges and even suggesting improvements on judging process by necessitating a workshop locally.

The SLIC is in the process of identifying   such competent individuals from across the Globe based on the interactions the overseas missions necessitate in their local host countries. The SLIC would be very grateful if the resource could be engaged as part of Sri Lanka bi-lateral agreement with the host state however not withstanding willing to pay the desired professional fee if the need does arise.

As Sri Lankan origin professionals, if you are willing to support on this national endeavour which would undoubtedly make the SLIC more competitive and / or provide them greater alignment in the global terrain reference the judging process of inventions, you are proposed to forward your contact details to the following address, in order for the SLIC to contact you direct for more information on this national endeavour.

INTRODUCTION: This survey is being sent to all SLANSW members to find out your needs and expectations. The 2015 SLANSW committee is interested in receiving YOUR FEEDBACK as to what you expect the committee members to organise for you regarding retirement living for you and your family.  As you know the SLANSW has already successfully held social events such as the HSC awards for Youth, Seniors lunch, Autumn Ball and donated and supported the Sinhala/Tamil New Years Day Celebrations and the Chitrasena Dance Troupe cultural event.

The committee is now planning to request a grant from the Government and a concept proposal for an Aged Care Hostel (ACH) for seniors, Independent Retirement Village (IRV)   for over 55yr old members, and a Community Hall (CH) for all SLANSW members.

Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary. It will be optional for you to provide personal contact data.  However, we hope you will join this survey as the information you provide will be used to determine the retirement services we can provide to you as members. The information you provide will be accessible only by the survey team, will be kept as classified confidential data and will be destroyed after five years.

It will take only 5-10 minutes to answer this short survey and send the response back by e mail or normal mail.

Portraits in Pink

Portraits in Pink is a photographic exhibition of 14 breast cancer survivors from Indian and Sri Lankan background in NSW. The exhibition is open from 12th to 25th October 2015. On Saturday the 17th of October, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm you will get the opportunity  to meet the Portraits in Pink breast cancer saviours.
